STEP SAFE AEROSOL
STEP SAFE
is an ideal coating for Steps, Metal Roofs, Tile, Sidewalks, Vehicles, patios, pavement around a pool, on a boat, boat trailer,
in the laundry room, bathroom, and in industrial work spaces where firmer footing is needed. It can be used on steel, fiberglass,
treated aluminum, concrete, wood and other surfaces. STEP SAFE will provide a surface with a grit which make slips less likely,
even when wet. Special features of this coating include:
* Quick dry and easier on wet feet * Brushes,
tools and equipment clean up with soap and water
Stock Colors are
Black and Clear which blends with any surface.
However special colors are available but require minimum orders.
*
Applies easily over oil or waterbase primers * STEP SAFE is self priming on most surfaces *
PRECAUTIONS: DO NOT use on
garage floors or other areas where vehicles are parked or on smooth glossy surface such as ceramic tile. DO NOT USE in areas
where there is continuous standing water. Use STEP SAFE in the aerosol can for tubs and showers.
PREPARATION: Surface must be clean, dry and free of oil, gas, dirt, soap, rust or mill scale. Clean surface
with TSP, rinse thoroughly and let dry. Deteriorating or chalking surfaces should be cleaned with a wire brush, power scraper
or sandblast. Ferrous metal does not need a primer unless it is needed for rust resistance. Firm foot will work well over
the top of most rust resistant metal primers. Lightly sand Fiberglass or wipe with Acetone before painting. Treat new and
smooth concrete with a concrete etch solution before painting. Concrete should not be painted until it is at least 60 days
old. Treat Aluminum with a pretreatment compound before painting. STEP SAFE can be used directly on wood surfaces in one or
two coats depending upon the porosity of the wood (thin first coat). However, better results may be obtained on exterior wood
surfaces primed with a good exterior primer.
PREVIOUSLY PAINTED SURFACES:
Dull glossy surfaces with chemical gloss remover, #3 steel wool or 200 grit sandpaper. Wash off all dirt, grease, soap, oil
build-up with TSP and water. Rinse thoroughly. Remove loose paint and patch holes and cracks. Spot prime bare spots with appropriate
primer or a first coat of thinned STEP SAFE. WARNING!
If you scrape, sand or remove old paint from any surface, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC.
EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CASE SERIOUS ILLNESS, SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. PREGNANT
WOMEN SHOULD ALSO AVOID EXPOSURE. Wear a NIOSH-approved respirator to control lead exposure.
Carefully clean up with a wet mop or HEPA vacuum. Before you start, find out how to protect yourself
and your family by contacting the National Lead Information Hotline at 1-800-424-LEAD or log on to www.epa.gov/lead.
APPLICATION: STIR OR SHAKE WELL BEFORE USING. Air and surface temperature must be above 50° F during and 8 hours after application. Apply with nylon
bristle brush or roller. If a second coat is desired, allow 1 to 2 hours between applications, or until tack free. Dries to
the touch in 30 to 40 minutes. Dries hard in 72 hours or more depending on atmospheric temperature. DO NOT USE for airless
spray application. Firm Foot may be sprayed through a conventional spray system, however the grit may plug
and can damage spray tips.
TOUCH UP: Touch up can be done with this product
or with the aerosol STEP SAFE in matching colors. Touch up frequency depends upon wear.
Allow STEP SAFE to cure for at least 8 hours before subjecting to light traffic and 48 hours before exposure
to heavy use. Do not let water stand on newly painted surface for two weeks.
